Online foreign exchange and CFDs brokerage XTrade has recently announced an unusual yet extraordinary football partnership in the industry. Appointing none other than the world famous Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo as its official ambassador, the deal is the first of its kind for a retail trading focused company, with high profile football stars having been out of reach up until now.

A Famous Face

XTrade, which is fully regulated, offers full customer support and supports 38 languages world-wide hopes that the move will open the door for them to target a number of new clients around the world. By using a face which the global population recognises very well, XTrade hope that this partnership will make their CFD trading service, which is available via web or a mobile application, even more appealing. Having risen to fame with his Manchester United success, Ronaldo currently plays for both Real Madrid and the Portuguese national football team and is considered to be one of the most famous and prolific football players today.

Social Media

The brokerage is also tapping into Ronaldo’s vibrant social media profile, with the football legend having almost 200 million followers across his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Speaking about the partnership deal, Ronaldo said: ‘To be the best, you need the best. That is why I have chosen to partner with XTrade, one of the world’s leading digital online trading platforms. And there is no easy way to become the world’s best. The only way is through perseverance, practice, and more practice – until perfection.’ Dubbed by many as one of the best footballers of his time, Ronaldo will definitely see plenty of success if he applies the same attitude to trading online as he does to his sport.

Global Recognition

Elaborating on the prolific and strategic partnership, XTrade’s Head of Operations Mark Leigh said that ‘it signifies an opportunity to support one of the world’s most existing talents whilst also promoting XTrade’s innovative, market-leading CFD trading products around the globe’. Leigh believes that the partnership is a move which will lead to increasing the trading platform’s international presence.

Ronaldo currently also features on a number of online marketing materials which are being used by the brokerage. XTrade is engaging in a significant effort to promote its trading services globally, aiming to increase awareness of the XTrade trading platform. Along with the top-rated mobile application, this partnership is expected to attract a new range of younger traders who are looking for smart ways to invest their money.

The image rights of Cristiano Ronaldo are held by CAPITAL, part of Mint Media. In turn, this company is owned by Singapore-based billionaire Peter Lim. The deal with XTrade was brokered by Polaris Sports Limited, the official representative for Cristiano Ronaldo. In a statement, a spokesperson for Polaris Sports Ltd said: ‘Our focus is always to have Ronaldo associated with the best global brands, and XTrade is a great example [of this]’.
